Battle Mountain L&A

About This Project

As landscape architects on the NDOT Landscape and Aesthetics project for Battle Mountain, NV, our team was tasked with designing large highway monuments and bridge appliques for the three I-80 interchanges. In close collaboration with NDOT, we sought to create designs that were not only functional and visually striking but also deeply reflective of the town’s unique history and character. Each interchange monument was thoughtfully themed to incorporate both the current identity and the historical significance of Battle Mountain, drawing inspiration from the region’s rich heritage, local culture, and natural surroundings. These elements were woven into the design to establish a strong sense of place, offering travelers a distinctive and welcoming visual experience. By incorporating features that resonate with the local community and its history, we aimed to foster a deeper connection between the town and those passing through while enhancing the overall aesthetic quality of the highway infrastructure.
